Priority areas for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNESCO discussed in Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2018 / Kabar /. First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Kemelova met with Director of UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, representative of the UNESCO in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Krista Pikkat, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the priority areas of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNESCO, including the results of participation of the Kyrgyz delegation in the 39th session of the UNESCO General Conference and meetings with the leadership of the Organization. The sides stressed that the potential of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNESCO is not fully used. In this regard, the perspective projects and opportunities for expanding and deepening cooperation on the whole range of activities of UNESCO were discussed: preservation of cultural heritage, development of education, intercultural dialogue and information, protection of the environment and water resources.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on the possible involvement of UNESCO in the organization of the Third World Nomad Games in September of this year and holding commemorative events at the UNESCO headquarter dedicated to the 90th anniversary of great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.

Kemelova emphasized the importance of UNESCO's assistance to Kyrgyzstan, positively assessed the long-term fruitful cooperation and expressed hope for strengthening of further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNESCO.
