Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2018 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan imposed restrictions on supply of meat from China, Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Melioration- Erkin Choduyev told.
Choduev said that from now forward, meat from China will not be imported to Kyrgyzstan as it does not meet the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
The Minister added that Kyrgyzstan produces 250,000 tons of meat and 971 tons of it is exported. Despite this, meat is imported to Kyrgyzstan from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
Choduev said that the program for the development of food industry for 2017-2021 has been developed, the main goal of which is the export of domestic products.
"We are now opening processing companies, laboratories and logistics centers in order to unify the standardization of domestic products," Choduyev added.
During the discussion, the deputies stressed that livestock is the priority direction of an agrarian sector in the country, however, the level of development of meat-processing industry is still desirous and there are not enough slaughter facilities.
