Bishkek, Sept. 7, 2017 /Kabar/. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Chynybai Tursunbekov met with heads of national human rights institutions of a number of countries participating in the International Forum of Ombudsmen in Bishkek, the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament reported.
The Speaker stressed the importance of the issues discussed during this Forum and noted the relevance of the initiative to create an international Ombudsman alliance, which will include representatives of institutions for the protection of the rights of citizens not only CIS countries but also far abroad. "The creation of this site will unite heads of national human rights institutions of several countries, which will serve to improve the level of protection of human rights," the Speaker said.
The meeting participants discussed issues of citizens' electoral rights, as well as reforms in the penitentiary system.
The Ombudsmen of Kyrgyzstan, Austria and Turkey, the Human Rights Ombudsman of Russia and Uzbekistan, the Commissioner for Children's Rights of Kazakhstan, as well as the Chairman of the UN Human Rights Committee took part in the meeting.
