Bishkek, May 12, 2018. / Kabar /. Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan and Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tao Zhang discussed issues of further cooperation.
The press service of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that, the bilateral meeting of Abdygulov with Zhang, who arrived for participation in an international conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency of the Kyrgyz Republic, was held on May 11. The meeting was also attended by Stephen Alan Barnett, advisor to the IMF Deputy Managing Director; Edward Jemael, the head of the IMF mission for the Kyrgyz Republic; Christian Jos, the new head of the IMF mission for the Kyrgyz Republic and Yahya Khairi Said, IMF Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the meeting, the chairman of the National Bank noted the importance of fruitful cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the IMF and noted the IMF's great role in the early years of the introduction and establishment of the national currency. Abdygulov stressed that the IMF is and remains a global competence center for monetary policy, financial reforms, etc.
In turn, Zhang noted the successes achieved by the National Bank in curbing inflation and ensuring financial stability of the republic.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further cooperation of Kyrgyzstan with the IMF, as well as the current economic situation in the country.
The Kyrgyz Republic is a member of the IMF since May 8, 1992 after signing the Articles of Agreement of the IMF Charter.
